“The good news is that because of early detection.. it appears the prognosis is very good,” said Walker, 60. “I am now one of 3,000 Kentuckians who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.”
Walker was defeated by Alison Lundergan Grimes in the primary after being appointed by the Governor in January to replace then-Secretary of State Trey Grayson's unfulfilled term. Wearing a pink suit while addressing reporters in her capital office, she said made her statement public because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
