Incumbent Kentucky Governor, Steve Beshear, decided to take a drastically different approach to his speech at the political event Fancy Farm when he took to the podium Saturday afternoon. Instead of engaging in the political partisanship that many have come to attach to, and even expect, at the gathering in Western Kentucky, Gov. Beshear focused on his week-long trip of visits with Kentucky troops in Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq. The Governor obviously had much more to lose than to gain at the gathering Saturday and according to some polls leads his closest opponent Senate President David Williams, by 24 points. Nonetheless, Gov. Beshear's refusal to talk about his record, his party's platform and his vision for Kentucky left him wide open to Republican attacks. Here's what the Paducah Sun wrote about Gov.
