UK News Roundup

  • Big Blue Madness, which is set for October 14th, will be broadcast on different channels over in the state.   From the Herald Leader:
The UK IMG Sports Network will televise the festivities live, from 7-9:30 p.m., on WYMT in Hazard; WKAG in Hopkinsville; WSAZ in Huntington, W.Va.; WKYT-27 in Lexington and WMYO in Louisville. The broadcast also will be available on UKathletics.com and ESPN3.com.
Other affiliates will carry Big Blue Madness on a tape-delayed basis, including Fox Sports South (10 p.m.); WBKO (9 p.m. CDT) in Bowling Green; WTVW in Evansville (10:30 p.m. CDT) and WDKA in Paducah/Cape Girardeau, Mo. (TBA).

In other Kentucky basketball news...

  • The Big Blue All-Star team, which will tour the state playing local colleges added Demarcus Cousins to the roster which includes Brandon Knight, Josh Harrellson, DeAndre Liggins, Chuck Hayes, Eric Bledsoe, Kenneth Faried and Shelvin Mack.
  • In another upcoming exhibition game, UK legends (not necessarily the team listed above) will face a team of classic rivals, called Villians.  We are now learning that the team will be coached by the most hated of all UK rivals, Christian Laettner.  Matt Jones of KSR is having Laettner on the show today, which should make for good radio.  I hope he's an asshole (Laettner, not Matt Jones).
  • Jerry Tipton talks to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist about his father's murder (Kidd-Gilchrist was two when it happened) and the death of his uncle (who died on the same day he signed for UK).  Jerry doesn't ask any basketball questions and I felt slightly uncomfortable reading the interview.
