Kentucky asked the U.S. Justice Department Tuesday to join in a lawsuit against Education Management Corp. (EDMC), claiming it used improper recruiting practices in order to obtain more than $11 billion in student aid. Kentucky, the U.S. Justice Department and four other states are accusing EDMC of illegally paying recruiters based on the number of students they signed up.
