Tip-off Your Season With Some Headlines

Most of the interesting stories are coming from the sports category today, mainly basketball.  Here are a few nuggets to gnaw on while you prepare for the opening of college basketball season.
  • UK players Terrence Jones and Stacey Poole were involved in a car accident last night.  They were both passengers in a car that was struck by a drunk driver, though both Jones and Poole seem to be fine.  Coach Cal has imposed a curfew as a result of the incident.
  • If U of L wins their season opener tonight, Rick Pitino will log his 600th career win.
  •  The business of breeding thoroughbreds generated $1.58 billion to the state's economy last year.
  •  Kentucky-based business Dippin' Dots is filing for bankruptcy.  The ice cream of the future is now the ice cream of the past.  So it goes.
  • The UK football team is a 13.5 point underdog versus the juggernaut that is Vanderbilt in tomorrow's SEC showdown that will determine... probably a bowl game for... eh, it really won't determine anything significant.
  • However, tonight's game against Marist is the beginning the awesomeness that will be the 2011-2012 basketball season.  We're a 35.5 point favorite in this match-up and we can only hope that Terrence Jones isn't hungover gets off to a good start.  Tip-off is at 7ET and will be broadcast on every television and radio station in the state of Kentucky.  Viewing is mandatory.
